Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home.
Sadly the reality is that too many in Canterbury do not. At Aviva, we do things differently.
What do we do?
Wherever possible, we remove violence from families, not families from homes.
This is a more sustainable and fairer response for those who have already experienced trauma, than forcing them to leave their home, to escape the violence.
- We operate a 24/7 crisis line
- We enable families to stay safe at home, with security upgrades and alarm monitoring
- We support tamariki to overcome the trauma of family violence
- We offer life-changing family violence education
- We help young people and adults to overcome their use of violence
- We provide specialist crisis intervention and support to victims of sexual assault
- We offer peer support and empower our community to change cycles of violence
- We offer specialist, culturally sensitive programmes for specific communities
- We provide safe, affordable low and no interest loans for people on low incomes
"You didn’t see a girl scared, you saw a need of safety and you stepped up. I haven’t had to use the personal alarm but having it and the new locks have made me feel safe and worth saving. You helped me realise that I am worth saving." - Aviva client
Family violence predisposes the next generation to further violence. By supporting children and young people to learn what healthy relationships look and feel like, we can break the cycle of family violence, creating safer futures for our tamariki.
By donating today, you are supporting a person in Canterbury to live a life free from violence.
Help us so we can help them.
