Long term healing and recovery for all people seeking wellbeing from family and sexual violence, with a whānau voice at the centre of all we do.

What is Whānau Resilience?

Whānau Resilience is a collective of agencies working collaboratively to support you and your whānau to achieve long-term healing and recovery from violence. It works by empowering the whānau as a whole rather than focusing separately on individual family members. 

We recognise the whānau is its own emotional unit, and that for each individual family member to achieve wellbeing, it is important to also look at the wider familial structure, from pēpi/children to kaumātua/elders.

Who is Whānau Resilience for?

Whānau Resilience is available to anyone who has experienced family violence and their whānau regardless of ethnicity, gender, age or sexuality.

How can Aviva help?

We offer wrap-around services tailored to whānau needs and cultural identity.

All support will be whānau-centred and led by you. Your kaimahi support worker will work with you and your whānau to identify your needs and come up with your own ways of improving your lives, moving forward, and achieving your ambitions for the family.

Your kaimahi will support you to achieve these goals, and can refer you to a range of other health, education or social services, giving you access to a rich resource of wisdom and expertise from across our interagency collective.

How long does Whānau Resilience last?

We recognise that healing has no time limits. Whānau will identify when they are ready to exit the service.
