Stand-up to build violence-free futures for our children.

Volunteer just two hours of your time to Aviva’s annual appeal this May and help raise funds to support children and young people build better futures.

Annual Appeal Week 13-19 May 2018

Here's the current picture:

  • Every 4 minutes Oranga Tamariki receives a care and protection notification
  • Children are present at 80% of the estimated 525,000 family violence incidents each year
  • New Zealand ranks 3rd in the OECD for child abuse.

Let's Change It

As a community of caring people who want the best for our children, we can change that picture.

We know that intervention in youth is the best way to help break the cycle of family violence and to support young people to create positive, healthier relationships as they grow. Children from most schools and communities in Canterbury have used Aviva's services and we know that raising awareness of family violence and, more importantly, where to get help and move past its effects, is so vital to the wellbeing of our young people.

That’s why we need your help. On Friday May 17 and Saturday 18 Aviva is holding our annual appeal. It involves a street appeal and postal appeal; could you help us?

If you want to support people overcome the effects of violence, you could:

  • Volunteer two hours (or more!) of your time to our street appeal on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th of May. We are collecting throughout Christchurch, Kaiapoi, Rangiora, Lincoln, Amberley and Rolleston. Click on the following links to register your interest:

  • Run your own fundraising event with your colleagues, family, class mates, friends or community group. Perhaps you could take up a collection at work, run a raffle, or arrange a quiz?
  • Make a donation to Aviva. You can find all the details on how you can do this with your credit card here, or by bank transfer or cheque here.
  • Gift goods or services that we can gift to clients or use for fundraising.

If you decide to do a fundraiser, we would love to hear about it so that we can share your plans, photos and successes with our other supporters.

Anything you do is a huge help to young people living with or overcoming family violence.

If you are interested in supporting Aviva but the timing of our Appeal Week does not suit you, please choose any time that works for you – we love support all-year round. Thanks.
