Aviva does not operate a safe house or provide emergency accommodation. However, we can support you to access refuge or alternate emergency accommodation through the use of other agencies, regardless of gender.
Who can access temporary, safe accommodation?Anyone, of any age or gender.
You do not have to have experienced physical violence to seek access to temporary accommodation. If you:
you can still access safe, temporary accommodation.
Phone Aviva on our free crisis and support line 0800 AVIVA NOW (0800 28482 669) 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
A brief assessment of your suitability and safety requirements will be undertaken on the phone by a trained Family Support Worker (FSW). If you meet the criteria for a Safe House (for women and children), the FSW will make arrangements for a Safe House provider to contact you. The Safe House provider will complete a longer assessment.
If the Safe Houses are full, or if a Safe House is not suitable for you, or for men/other genders, we can still arrange alternative accommodation (e.g. a motel). This may be the case if there are alcohol/drug issues, unmanaged mental health issues, or if you have your own issues of using violence.
